The Bears of Tomorrow
Date
2025
Material
Pen
This work reimagines three bears as bio-mechanical organisms, each engineered to process a specific form of urban waste. Their segmented, armor-like bodies carry industrial markings and coded systems, embodying the logic of mass production while still echoing the primal strength of animal forms. Through pen, precise line work, and restrained color, I use a minimalistic aesthetic that contrasts with the complexity of their internal machinery.
In this speculative vision of future city life, the bears act as both guardians and laborers, quietly sustaining the daily rhythms of urban survival. By fusing natural imagery with technological function, the piece invites viewers to reconsider how ecosystems might be redefined when even animals become repurposed to maintain the balance of human-built environments.
