Digesters
This printmaking series is created from a single carved board, inked in different colors and pressed onto three sheets of paper. Each bear becomes a symbolic urban machine, its belly transformed into a system that digests waste—fire incinerators, organic composting, and mechanical plastic recycling. What emerges is not destruction, but renewal: energy cubes, fertile soil, and reusable materials.
Through this transformation, the bears act as allegories for sustainability in urban life, where natural resilience merges with technological intervention. The repeated form, paired with shifting internal systems, reflects how a single design can be mass-produced yet carry distinct functions and meanings. Minimal black silhouettes emphasize the tension and balance between nature’s quiet presence and the industrial systems necessary to sustain modern cities.
